AmeriCorps lends a hand on the Vineyard

AmeriCorps National Community Civilian Corps (NCCC), a division of AmeriCorps that sends small teams of young people to volunteer at sites across the country, placed a team on Martha’s Vineyard for the first time. Team Raven 1, based in Maryland, landed on the island for two months of work, but were pulled off this weekend (3 weeks shy of their end date) to help with flooding relief and recovery in Northern Vermont. While they were in the Vineyard, they were hosted by the Stone Soup Leadership Institute, a non-profit that aims to train youth to be leaders. The nine volunteers worked on multiple projects across the island, ranging from farming to building restoration. More
